STANFORD, Calif. – In his first singles match since January, Yale Goldberg stepped up to provide the clinching point as No. 22 Stanford swept past the Arizona Wildcats 4-0 Friday afternoon at the Taube Family Tennis Stadium.
Stanford (11-4, 1-0 Pac-12) wrapped March with a 5-1 record while collecting its first Pac-12 win of the season.
The Cardinal took a quick lead as it claimed the doubles point after cruising to wins at the No. 2 and 3 positions.
Sameer Kumar made it 2-0 with a 6-2, 6-3 win in the No. 2 spot against Arizona's (9-10, 0-1 Pac-12) Will Kneale to move to 8-4 in dual action.
William Genesen continued on his tear as he pushed his win streak to five with a 6-3, 6-1 win against Andres Reyes in the No. 5 spot.
Yale Goldberg in his first singles match in dual play since 2015 provided the clincher as he defeated Will Adkisson 6-2, 7-5 at the No. 6 spot.
Stanford closes out its four match week Saturday as it hosts Utah at noon PT at the Taube Family Tennis Stadium.
