Top Ten Showdown

GOLD RIVER, Calif. – In a showdown of the three of the top crews in the nation between No. 2 California, No. 6 Stanford and No. 9 Brown, the Cardinal placed second in the varsity eight to close out the two-day Lake Natoma Invitational on Sunday.
 
Stanford's top boat raced down the Lake Natoma course in 6:23.61 to finish a length behind California (6:18.27) in second place. Brown finished third with a time of 6:28.55.
 
The Cardinal's second varsity eight finished with a time of 6:31.24 to placed third in its race. California (6:20.01) won the race, while Brown (6:28.65) edged Stanford by several seats for second place.
 
Stanford's varsity four also finished third with a time of 7:12.4. California won the race with a time of 7:02.7, with Brown placing second (7:07.5).
 
On Saturday, Stanford's three NCAA boats – varsity eight, second varsity eight and varsity four – swept its races against Gonzaga and Clemson.  
 
Stanford returns to action on April 29, as the Cardinal faces California in the Big Row at Redwood Shores.
