MESA, Ariz./ATLANTA, Ga.
- It was a busy weekend for the Cardinal. Stanford diver Kassidy Cook won the national title in the synchronized 3-meter springboard and qualified for the World Championships on Thursday, while Katie Ledecky and Simone Manuel both shined in Mesa over the weekend.

Cook competed at the 2017 USA Diving Synchronized National Championships in Atlanta, Ga. She and her partner earned a spot at the World Championships in Budapest, Hungary, with their national title in the synchronized 3-meter springboard. The pair topped the field by nearly 50 points with a winning score of 573.15. They won the prelims, but were initially 14 points off the qualifying standard. But several strong dives in the finals made up the deficit and secured their spot in Budapest.

At the 2017 Arena Pro Swim Series at Mesa, Ledecky won the 800-meter freestyle with the fastest time in the world this year. Her finish of 8:15.44 was the third victory of the weekend as she also won the 200 and 400 free. She posted the best time in the world this year in the 400 with a seven-second victory (4:01.01), and her win in the 200 free (1:56.31) was just after a second-place showing in the 400 individual medley (4:38.16).

Manuel won the 100 free with a finish of 53.66 -- the 10th-fastest time in the world this year -- and was first in the 50 free at 24.66. Stanford teammates Lia Neal (54.38) and Katie Ledecky (54.78) were third and fourth, respectively in the 100, while Neal was also third in the 50 at 25.14.

Also at the Skyline Aquatic Center, Ella Eastin was fifth in the 400 individual medley with a time of 4:41.19, and incoming freshman Brooke Forde was seventh in the event with a finish of 4:50.00. Manuel was third in the 200 free (1:58.98), while freshman Katie Drabot was fifth with a time of 2:00.38. in the 100 backstroke, Manuel finished third (1:01.15) and freshman Erin Voss was eighth (1:03.19). Drabot and Forde each competed in the 200 individual medley with sixth-place (2:15.24) and seventh-place (2:15.87) finishes, respectively.

Later this summer, several Stanford swimmers will attempt to join Cook in Hungary. The swimming trials for the World Championships are June 28-July 2 in Indianapolis, Indiana -- at the same site of Stanford's national championship in March.

Head Coach Greg Meehan will serve as Team USA's Head Swimming Coach at the World Championships, July 14-22.
