84th Big Row

STANFORD, Calif. – No. 12 Stanford men's rowing meets No. 1 California in the 84th annual Big Row Saturday morning at Redwood Shores.
 
For fans looking to make their way to Redwood Shores, the course is located at 3 Lagoon Drive, Redwood City, Calif. 94063. From US-101 take the Ralston Ave. exit and head east. The course will be 0.6 miles on the right hand side. Admission is free of charge.
 
The full Big Row schedule is below, highlighted by the men's third varsity eight race at 9:24 a.m. the men's second varsity eight race at 9:48 a.m. and the men's varsity eight race at 10:24 a.m.
 
The Cardinal last raced on April 14 and 15 in the Stanford Invitational at Redwood shores, with the varsity eight defeating No. 20 Oregon State and Hobart, while falling to No. 2 Washington. The Cardinal's top boat posted the third-best time (5:43.44) in the two-day regatta that also included California, Wisconsin and the Huskies.
 
Stanford and California met once previously this season, squaring off in the San Diego Crew Classic on April 2. The Cardinal (5:50.02) placed third in the Grand Final of the Copley Cup, with the Golden Bears (5:35.50) winning the race.  
 
California, the defending Intercollegiate Rowing Association champions, is coming off a varsity eight win over No. 2 Washington at Montlake Cut last weekend.
 
Stanford last defeated California in the varsity eight race in the 2013 Big Row, capturing the Schwabacher Cup with a time of 5:31.2.
California won all three races in last year's Big Row. The No. 2 Golden Bears (5:36.63) retained the Schwabacher Cup with a win in the varsity eight over the No. 15 Cardinal (5:49.78).
 
The Big Row is the final regular-season regatta of the spring for Stanford. The Cardinal will head to Lake Natoma outside of Sacramento for the Pac-12 Championships on Sunday, May 14. This year's IRA Championships will also be held in Lake Natoma, June 2-4.
