Season in Review

STANFORD, Calif. - It was 19 years in the making. The Stanford women's swimming and diving team won its first NCAA Championship since 1998, and claimed the program's 10th national championship (9th NCAA title) -- more than any other program. 
 2017 NCAA Champions» Stanford had 13 different All-Americans combine for 47 All-America honors, seven individual national championships and three relay titles during the four-day NCAA championship meet inside IUPUI Natatorium.
» The Cardinal also earned its 37th straight top-eight finish (every year the NCAA has sponsored a championship meet).
» Stanford's 526.5 points were the most for the program since the Cardinal totaled 649.5 in 1993. Cal was second with 366 points. It is the largest margin of victory at the NCAA Championships since 2003 (Auburn defeated Georgia, 536-373).

2017 Pac-12 Champions» For the 20th time in program history, Stanford is the Pac-12 champion.
» After three straight runner-up finishes, the Stanford women's swimming and diving team finished atop the conference for the first time since 2013.
» The Cardinal garnered 1,587 points to top runner-up Cal's 1,392 points and USC, which finished third with 1,250 points.
» In all, Stanford won 15 of the 21 events with five American records , and freshman Katie Ledecky was named Swimmer of the Meet.

Honors and Awards» Katie Ledecky was named the Honda Sport Award winner for swimming and diving as announced by The Collegiate Women Sports Awards (CWSA). Stanford had two of the four finalists for the award as Simone Manuel was also nominated. Ledecky is the ninth Cardinal to win this award.
» Fourteen Cardinal were named to the Pac-12 All-Academic teams. Junior mechanical engineering major Lindsey Engel earned first-team honors, while sophomores Ella Eastin and Kim Williams earned second-team selections.
» Junior Simone Manuel was named Pac-12 Swimmer of the Year, Greg Meehan earned Pac-12 Coach of the Year honors, and freshmen Katie Ledecky and Haley Farnsworth received conference Newcomer of the Year for swimming and diving, respectively.
» Greg Meehan was also named NCAA Coach of the Year for the second time in his career.
» Stanford was named a Scholar All-America team by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA).

» Seniors Bridget BoushkaTara HalstedLia Neal and Nicole Stafford wrapped up stellar careers on The Farm. 
» Stanford never finished lower than third at the NCAA Championships during their four-year careers.
» Boushka was a four-year letterwinner and three-time Pac-12 All-Academic honoree.
» Halsted is a two-time Olympic Trials qualifier and three-time Pac-12 All-Academic selection.
» Neal was a two-time Olympian, six-time national champion, 26-time All-American and scholar All-American.
» Stafford served as an inspiration throughout her career, and capped it with her first individual All-America honor in her final meet. In all, she was a five-time All-America honoree, a national champion in the 200 medley relay in 2014, and a three-time Pac-12 All-Academic selection.

Regular Season» For the second straight year, Stanford (8-0, 7-0 Pac-12) finished unbeaten in dual meets.
» Five of the eight victories came against teams ranked in the Top 20, including three against foes in the top five – No. 2 Texas, No. 3 Cal and No. 4 USC. The Cardinal topped the Longhorns, 161-137, on Nov. 12 in Palo Alto and also defeated the Trojans at Avery Aquatic Center, 202-98, on Jan. 28. Stanford won the Big Swim at rival Cal, 177-123, on Feb. 11.
» Stanford has won 15 straight dual meets. The Cardinal's last defeat in a dual was to No. 3 Cal on Feb. 14, 2015 – which also marks a string of 14 straight Pac-12 dual meet victories since that loss. The Cardinal has also won 11 straight dual meets at home dating back to Oct. 30, 2014 against Texas (156-144).
» Also for the second straight year, Stanford finished No. 1 in the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) poll.

Up Next» Several Stanford swimmers will prepare for the World Championship Trials in Indianapolis, Indiana -- the same location as Stanford's national championship in March. The trials are June 28-July 2. 
» Diver Kassidy Cook has already punched her ticket to the World Championships in Budapest, Hungary, July 23-30. 
» Head Coach Greg Meehan will serve as Team USA's head coach at the World Championships.
» Seven incoming freshmen will join the program in 2017-18 as the Cardinal attempt to defend the national title.
