STANFORD, Calif. – Kylie Sorenson hit a two-RBI double but it was not enough to help Stanford overcome a big third inning by No. 15 Utah as the Cardinal fell, 6-2, in the series finale Sunday afternoon.

Stanford (16-16, 0-6 Pac-12) took a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the second inning on Sorenson's double but had its advantage quickly erased when the Utes (24-7, 6-2 Pac-12) erupted for five runs in the top of the third.

Utah took a 6-2 lead and held on to its advantage with neither team scoring a run for the remainder of the game.

Stanford produced all three of its hits in the second inning and managed just three baserunners the remainder of the game.

Carolyn Lee got the start in the circle and did well in her ninth complete game of the season, keeping the Utes off the board in the final four innings to keep Stanford within striking distance.

Highlights from Stanford's series finale against No. 15 Utah.

Along with her two-RBI double, Sorenson was solid defensively at shortstop and made multiple quality plays on hard-hit ground balls to the left side of the infield. Lauren Wegner solidified the middle-infield with a couple nice plays at second base.

The Cardinal had opportunities in the fifth and sixth innings with Teaghan Cowles reaching base on a hit by pitch and Bessie Noll drawing a walk, respectively. However, Utah turned double plays in both innings to halt any potential rally.

Victoria Molina led Stanford offensively on the weekend, batting .500 (4-for-8) with an RBI, a double, a run and a walk in three games. Sorenson also contributed throughout the weekend with a 3-for-9 (.333) that included a team-high three RBIs, two doubles and two runs.

Stanford will look to get back on track next weekend when it travels to Arizona for a three-game series beginning Friday at 6 p.m. (PT).
