STANFORD, Calif. – The Cardinal resumes conference play this week as it sets to face No. 6 Colorado on the road Friday. Game time is set for 2 p.m. PT at Kittredge Field in Boulder, Colo.

Last week Stanford (7-3, 1-0 MPSF) had its six-game win streak snapped after coming out unscathed from a hard-fought 10-9 win over Harvard before falling 15-12 to the Yale Bulldogs.

Colorado:
The Buffs (11-1, 3-0 MPSF) are currently on a tear this season with the only loss on the schedule coming from No. 4 Stony Brook last weekend.

CU is led by Darby Kiernan with 31 goals on the year, which ties her for 6th in the MPSF. Another major factor is senior goalkeeper, Paige Soenksen who is currently ranked second in the MPSF in goals against average (7.39) and third in save percentage (.562).

Friday's game marks the seventh time the Cardinal has faced CU with Stanford holding a 6-0 record. Stanford faced the Buffs twice last year winning both the regular season game 12-10 and its MPSF semifinal game 11-6. All-time against the Buffaloes Amy Bokker is a perfect 6-0.

Potent Offense:
The Cardinal returned five of its strongest offensive threats last year in Kelsey Murray, Anna Salemo, Kelly Myers, Elizabeth Cusick and Dillon Schoen.

This year, Stanford is ranked 10th in the NCAA in scoring offense with a 14.90 average. Leading the way is Elizabeth Cusick with 26 goals, followed by All-American Kelsey Murray with 25.

Offense May Win Games, but Defense...
The Cardinal has taken pride in its defensive prowess in its program history, but this year it has a daunting task in replacing two All-Americans on defense in Adrienne Anderson and Meg Lentz. The duo combined last year with senior Alexa Mullins sending three new faces into defense in 2017. Freshmen Kyra Pelton and Mikaela Watson have filled that hole with junior Cameron Park

Currently on the year the Cardinal is 41st in the NCAA in scoring defense, though where Stanford really shines is in caused turnovers per game where its ranked first in the MPSF and seventh in the NCAA with a 12.30 average.

Treat Your Elders With Respect:
The Cardinal is well aware of the adage after the return of Anna Salemo - the oldest MPSF Rookie of the Year. Salemo returned to Stanford lacrosse after a four-year break, including coaching the Mountain View High School girl's varsity lacrosse team. In her first season back she finished ranked 3rd in game-winning goals, 7th in the MPSF in goals, 9th in points and 10th in goals per game on the team. Bottom line - the southpaw isn't one you should ever take your eye off of.
