Winaker Honored

STANFORD, Calif. - Junior Matt Winaker was named the Pac-12 Player of the Week on Monday by the conference office.

Winaker hit .400 (6-for-15) for the week, including two extra base hits and two go-ahead RBI. He had a .667 slugging percentage and .500 on-base percentage. He totaled four RBI and five runs, including the game-winning run on Friday night en route to Stanford's first sweep of Arizona since 1999.

Winaker was 2-for-4 with two runs, a walk and an RBI in an 8-2 win over Santa Clara on Tuesday, and on Friday against No. 13 Arizona, the first baseman was 3-for-4 with two go-ahead hits and two runs, including the game-winning run. This is the first such honor for Winaker, and the fifth weekly Pac-12 recognition for the Cardinal this season. Quinn Brodey was named Pac-12 Player of the Week, and Colton Hock was named the conference's Pitcher of the Week, both on March 7. Brodey also won the award on March 14, while junior southpaw Andrew Summerville took home top pitcher honors on Feb. 28.

Winaker and the 13th-ranked Cardinal have won eight in a row for the first time since 2013, and swept back-to-back Pac-12 opponents for the first time since 2012.

No. 13 Stanford wraps up a five-game homestand on Tuesday against San Jose State. First pitch from Sunken Diamond is set for 5:30 p.m.
