Softblog: Season Concludes

A Stanford softball student-athlete has written a weekly blog in each of the past four seasons to provide fans a behind-the-scenes perspective of the team. This year, sophomore Lauren Frost took over the Softblog to chronicle the team's adventures throughout the season. Her final entry of the year is below.

***Welcome back one last time Stanford softball fans!

After many months of practice, conditioning, lifting, and laughs our season's schedule has sadly come to a close as we played our final games this weekend against Oregon.

The weekend was filled with emotion as we watched our three seniors play their final games and had the pleasure of honoring them after the series. It's never easy watching someone play their final game but it's comforting to know that the impact they left on our team will resonate with us long after they are gone, and for that we can never thank them enough.

All the best to Bessie, Bert, and Ky as they prepare for the next inning of life! You will be missed more than you will ever know.

As a person who gets nostalgic very easily I felt that there was no better way to spend my last Softblog than to spend it looking back on what a fun journey I've been blessed to have with my teammates this year.

We started off the year with bang, getting ourselves whipped into shape by some Navy SEALs and finding out what we were really made of and who we really were (some of us finding out that "who we were" definitely did not involve pitching).

***

Then, before we knew it the season was starting and we were on the road weekend after weekend making more memories than we knew what to do with!

***

We were stylish in our new uniforms and my Dad even trekked down from Alaska (and ended up staying for three months!)

  ***

We got closer and closer as the weeks went on (and a little more tired, too)...

  ***

... and the family support throughout was INCREDIBLE.

  ***

Then Pac-12 play started and we got to check out some other campuses (and the nature that surrounded them) …

***

... and even enjoyed a mini Spring Break with each other!

We experienced some magic along the way …

... and knew just how to spend our time trapped in an airport.

***

We figured out the best ways to spend time …

***

... and played with puppies whenever we could (or bunnies?).

  ***

And of course, we played some ball in there too.

***

For a season so long it goes by in a flash. I've had the time of my life having the opportunity to update you all on our shenanigans this year and I can't wait to see who you get to know next year when I pass this along to one of our future sophomores.

On behalf of myself and my teammates I'd like to thank you all for your endless support.

Stanford softball would be so little without you all and I appreciate you taking the time to read my crazy summaries and keep up with these fun-loving girls that I have the honor of calling not only my teammates but my best friends.

As one door closes, another one opens. Time for me to actually do some homework.

It's been a pleasure!

One last time,

Frosty :)
