NEW ORLEANS – Stanford has been rated among the elite overall programs in the nation as determined by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

Taking into account NCAA team finishes in cross country, and indoor and outdoor track and field, the Stanford women ranked No. 3 in the Terry Crawford Program of the Year Award standings and the men No. 11 in the John McDonnell Award standings.

Stanford was among six schools to rank among the top 20 in both rankings and was among five to place in the top 11 of both. Though a combined Program of the Year is not included in the rankings, by combining the men's and women's rankings, Stanford would have been tied for No. 4.

The Stanford women were fifth in cross country, 10th in indoor track and 13th outdoors. NCAA highlights included the distance medley relay team placing second at NCAA Indoors and Mackenzie Little placing fourth in the javelin at NCAA Outdoors. Ten Card women totaled 15 All-American honors, including eight first-team honors.

The Cardinal men were second in cross country, 49th in indoor track and 26th in outdoor track. Grant Fisher won the NCAA Outdoor 5,000 championship and was fifth in the NCAA Cross Country Championships. In all, 17 Stanford men and women earned All-America honors in 2016-17, including 10 first-team honors.
