STANFORD, Calif. - Fourteen members of the Stanford women's swimming and diving team were named Scholar All-America by the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) on Wednesday. The Cardinal was also among the Scholar All-America teams.
As a team, the Cardinal hold a 3.63 GPA. Megan Byrnes, Kassidy Cook, Katie Drabot, Ella Eastin, Lindsey Engel, Ally Howe, Katie Ledecky, Simone Manuel, Nicole Stafford, Allie Szekely, Erin Voss and Kim Williams were first-team selections, while Alexandra Meyers and Heidi Poppe earned honorable mention accolades.
Combined with the Stanford men, the Cardinal led the nation with 24 first-team honorees and six honorable mention selections.
CSCAA Executive Director Joel Shinofield cited Stanford's success, noting: "Coaches Knapp and Meehan are models of excellence - both in the pool and the classroom at Stanford. We are very fortunate to have schools like Stanford and people like President Tessier-Lavigne and Director of Athletics Bernard Muir who support these exceptional student-athletes."
The selections recognize students that have achieved a grade point average of 3.50 or higher and competed at the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships.
