Golfers Honored

STANFORD, Calif. – Three members of the Stanford women's golf team earned All-Pac-12 first team honors, the conference announced Wednesday.

Leading the way was Andrea Lee of Hermosa Beach, California, who was selected Freshman of the Year. She was joined on the first unit by senior Casey Danielson of Osceola, Wisconsin, and freshman Albane Valenzuela of Geneva, Switzerland.

Lee produced the best rookie season in program history by winning three individual titles. Named the Ping/WGCA National Freshman of the Year and a WGCA First Team All-American, she broke the school freshman scoring record with an average of 71.62, the second-lowest single-season total at Stanford. Lee posted nine top 10 finishes in 11 starts and placed third or higher seven times.

Danieslon and Valenzuela were WGCA Second Team All-Americans for the Cardinal, who reached the final four of the NCAA Championships for the third consecutive season and tied for third. Danielson, who turned professional last week and qualified for the upcoming U.S. Women's Open, collected eight top 10 finishes and averaged 72.81, the third-best total by a Stanford senior.

Valenzuela overcame injuries to capture the NCAA Albuquerque Regional. She finished with six top 10s and averaged 73.21, the third-lowest figure by a freshman in Cardinal history.

NCAA champion Arizona State also landed three selections, headed by senior Monica Vaughn, the Pac-12 Player of the Year. Senior Linnea Strom and freshman Olivia Mehaffey also made the squad.

Also named to the 12-member team were freshman Mariel Galdiano and sophomore Lilia Vu of UCLA, sophomore Haley Moore and junior Krystal Quihuis of Arizona, and senior Victoria Morgan and sophomore Robynn Ree of USC.

Missy Farr-Kaye of Arizona State was chosen Coach of the Year.
