Fourth at U23 World Championships

PLOVDIV, Bulgaria – Jovanni Stefani and the United States Men's Eight finished fourth in the A Final at the World Rowing Under 23 Championships in Plovdiv, Bulgaria.
 
The men's eight, stroked by Stefani, finished the A Final with a time of 5:35.740 to place fourth. Netherlands (5:29.550) captured the gold, with Romania (5:31.570) taking the silver and Great Britain (5:32.640) earning the bronze.
 
Stefani, an engineering major who completed his junior year at Stanford in 2016-17, has rowed in the varsity eight each of his first three seasons on The Farm. He rowed in the Cardinal's top boat in every regatta each of the last two seasons. Stanford's varsity eight placed eighth overall at the 2016 Intercollegiate Rowing Association Championships and finished second in the third-level final at the 2017 IRA Championships.
 
The Cardinal competed primarily in the two seat in Stanford's varsity eight during the 2017 season.
 
Stefani and teammate Brennan Wertz rowed together in the USRowing Pair that won a bronze medal for the United States in the 2016 Under 23 World Rowing Championships in Rotterdam, The Netherlands.
