DAVIS, Calif. – Goals by five different Cardinal and a complete team effort propelled No. 14 Stanford to a 5-0 win over UC Davis Friday afternoon in America East action.
Stanford (8-5, 2-0 AE) dominated the first half as it came out to dominate the Aggies (1-12, 0-2 AE) with three goals in the half as Katie Keyser scored her first of the season to get the offense started for the Cardinal in the 11th minute.
Kristina Bassi chimed in next for her fifth goal of the season in the 21st minute before Frances Carstens scored her first career goal with just less than five minutes remaining to send it to the break with a 3-0 Cardinal advantage.
The Cardinal refused to relent in the second half as it posted six shots to UCD's one while Sarah Johnson added her third goal of the year after inserting a corner that Keyser and Corinne Zanolli redirected back for the rookie to deposit in the back left corner.
Marissa Cicione put the nail in the coffin in the 55th minute with a deflection off a Johnson shot to roll to a 5-0 lead and remaining undefeated by the Aggies since 2013.
The Cardinal travels to Cal next on Sunday for a 1 p.m. PT tilt against the Bears live on Pac-12 Network.
