HANOVER, N.H./PROVIDENCE, R.I. – In a pair of East Coast regattas over the weekend, Stanford sailing finished 11th at the Mrs. Hurst in New Hampshire, and ninth at the Hoyt Trophy in Rhode Island.

In Hanover, senior skipper Julia Lambert and freshman crew Victoria Thompson were 14th in the A Division with 53 points in five races. Freshman skipper Christina Sakellaris and crew Cassie Obel were 10th with 47 points and two top-five finishes in the B Division.

Down the coast, College of Charleston won the Hoyt Trophy with 194 points, while the Cardinal finished with 247. Stanford was led by freshman skipper Jack Parkin and crew Elena VandenBerg, who continued a successful Fall season. Despite retiring after finishing the 12th race, the duo still earned a fourth-place showing (99 points) among the 18 teams. In the A Division, skipper Jacob Rosenberg and crew Kennedy Placek finished 12th with 148 points in the 14 races.

Meanwhile at the Hinman, Stanford alumni Mateo Vargas, Sammy Steele, Kevin Laube, Yuri Namikawa, Kelly Ortel, Oliver Toole became the new US Team Racing champions.

Next week, the Cardinal is set to host the Women's Pacific Coast Championships and Coed Cardinal Open in Redwood City, Calif., while the Freshman Interconference is hosted by Tufts.
