Sitting Second

KAILUA, Hawaii – Sophomore Andrea Lee fired rounds of 69 and 68 to finish at 9-under and earned the first day lead Monday in the fifth Pac-12 Preview at sunny and scenic Nanea Golf Club.

Lee, who already has two victories this season, most recently last week when she shared medalist honors at the Stanford Intercollegiate at Poppy Hills Golf Course in Pebble Beach, lifted the Cardinal into second place after 36 holes in the elite 12-school event hosted by the University of Hawaii. She stands at 9-under 137 heading into Tuesday's final round.

Stanford combined for a two-round score of 9-under 575 (290-285), shooting 7-under in the afternoon session. UCLA is setting the pace at 20-under 564 (284-280). Cal is third at 8-over 592.

Lee carded 10 birdies and only one bogey on the day. The latter resulted from a one-shot penalty in the second round when she addressed the ball before a wedge shot and it moved.

Lee has a two-stroke lead over Lilia Vu of UCLA.

Senior Shannon Aubert aided the Cardinal cause with a pair of 1-under 72s and is tied for fifth. Freshman Mika Liu shot 74-72 and is tied for ninth at even-par 146, followed by sophomore Ziyi Wang (75-75) and sophomore Albane Valenzuela (78-73).

The last round begins at 7:30 a.m. (10:30 a.m. PT), with players going off in a shotgun start. For live scoring, visit GoStanford.com.
