CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Stanford women's rowing placed second among collegiate crews at the 53rd annual Head of the Charles near Boston.
The Cardinal varsity eight, which took home the silver medal at the NCAA Championships this past spring, placed second in the prestigious fall regatta with a time of 15:11.518.
Sudbury, composed of the top single scullers in the world, took home top honors in the championship final. Washington finished first among collegiate crews with a time of 15:03.829.
Stanford's varsity eight was coxed by senior All-American Leigh Warner and featured junior Elizabeth Sharis (stroke), senior Alie Rusher (seven-seat), freshman Kaitlyn Kynast (six-seat), junior All-American Stephanie Grauer (five-seat), junior Lindy Clute (four-seat), sophomore Meg Saunders (three-seat), and juniors Chase Shepley (two-seat) and Rena White (one-seat).
The Cardinal, which returns the majority of its roster from its 2017 NCAA lineups, will open the spring championship season in March.
