Vom Steeg with U-18 MNT

STANFORD, Calif. – Stanford freshman defender Carson Vom Steeg has been named to the U.S. Under-18 Men's National Team roster by head coach Omid Namazi for an international camp in Marbella, Spain from Oct. 1-10. The team's fourth gathering of 2017, it will be the final camp of the U-18 cycle before the group moves up to the U-20 level in 2018.
 
During camp the USA will take on Belgium on Oct. 5 and Russia on Oct. 9.
 
Vom Steeg had played in nine of 10 matches this season for the No. 8 Cardinal made the first two starts of his collegiate career this past weekend in Southern California in a pair of victories over San Diego State (5-0) and UCLA (1-0).
 
One of five collegians on the roster and a U-18 captain since 2015, Vom Steeg has appeared in a trio of tournaments for his country. The right back played at the Lisbon International Tournament in June 2017 and the Open Nordic Cup in Sweden in 2015 and helped the United States to a title at the 2016 Václav Ježek Tournament in the Czech Republic.
 
Stanford will has just one match this week when it travels to Berkeley to play No. 24 Cal on Sunday, Oct. 8 at 3 p.m. Troy Clardy and Christopher Sullivan will have the call on Pac-12 Bay Area.
