STANFORD, Calif. - No. 1 Stanford women's swimming and diving opens its home slate with a pair of weekday meets. The Cardinal hosts Pac-12 foe Oregon State on Thursday at 2:45 p.m. PT, and defending ACC champion N.C. State on Friday at 1 p.m. PT at Avery Aquatic Center.

MatchupsOregon State (2-2, 0-1 Pac-12)
» In their last meeting with the Beavers, Stanford opened up its 2016-17 national championship season with a dual meet at Oregon State. The Cardinal posted the fastest time in all 14 events and left Corvallis with a 141-109 victory. It marked the collegiate debut for Katie Ledecky, Allie Szekely, Katie Drabot and Megan Byrnes, who combined to win four events.
» In Oregon State's last visit to Avery Aquatic Center, Stanford won 13 of 14 events and won 134-117 on Oct. 24, 2014. Freshman Simone Manuel led the effort with three wins, while classmates Janet Hu and Ally Howe each picked up two wins apiece.
» The Beavers fell to USC and CSU Bakersfield in their last team swim on Oct. 6.
N.C. State (3-0, 1-0 ACC)
» The Wolf Pack won the ACC title last season -- the program's first since 1980. It also ended a nine-year run by Virginia.
» N.C. State has opened the season with three decisive dual meet victories over Duke, Penn State and Wisconsin.StreaksStanford has won 16 straight dual meets. The Cardinal's last defeat in a dual was to No. 3 Cal on Feb. 14, 2015 (158-142) – which also marks a string of 15 straight Pac-12 dual meet victories. In addition, the Cardinal has won 11 straight dual meets at home dating back to Oct. 30, 2014 against Texas (156-144).
A Look Back» Stanford opened the season with a one-day trip to Salt Lake City and a 143-95 victory over Utah on Oct. 20. Sophomore Haley Farnsworth swept the diving events, while nine different Cardinal swimmers combined to win the nine individual swimming events.
» Also that weekend, five Stanford swimmers – Katie Drabot, Katie Ledecky, Janet Hu, Brooke Forde and Ella Eastin – led the Pac-12 over Team USA, 326.5-286.5, in the second annual College Swimming Challenge in Los Angeles. In a two-day, season-opening meet that matches the USA national team against the current student-athletes in the Pac-12, Ledecky swept the 200, 500 and 1,000-yard freestyles, while Eastin swept the individual medleys and won the 200 butterfly.
A Look AheadMost of the Cardinal swimmers and divers will wrap up the Fall season at the Art Adamson Invitational in College Station, Texas, Nov. 16-18. Winter Nationals are scheduled for two weekends later, Nov. 30-Dec. 2 in Columbus, Ohio -- site of the 2017-18 NCAA Championships.
