Cardinal Signs Six

STANFORD, Calif. - Stanford head coach Jason Borrelli and his staff have signed six promising high school seniors to wrestle for the Cardinal starting next season.
 
Stanford's incoming class has been rated No. 7 in the nation by FloWrestling and consists of Gabe Dinette (Golden, Colo.), Tyler Eischens (Andover, Minn.), Alex Escudero (Los Gatos, Calif.), Shane Griffith (Westwood, N.J.), Colbey Harlan (Waterford, Calif.) and Real Woods (Albuquerque, N.M.).
 
"We are extremely excited about this class. Not only does it address key weight class needs moving forward, but it embodies the type of student-athletes we want at Stanford," said Borrelli, who is in his 10th year at the helm of the program.
 
Dinette is a two-time Colorado state champion out of Lakewood High School. Projected to wrestle at 149 or 157 pounds for the Cardinal, he is a Super 32 national medalist, a Big Horn Nationals champion and a Western Regional freestyle finalist. His father, James, wrestled for the Cardinal and was class of '91.
 
Eischens is a Minnesota state champion and three-time state finalist from Anoka High School. The Andover, Minnesota native will add depth to the middle weights for the Cardinal at 157 or 165 pounds. Eischens is a Fargo Junior Freestyle and Greco All-American, a Fargo Cadet Greco national finalist and a Fargo Cadet Freestyle All-American. He is a preseason national finalist and a three-time All-American. A Super 32 national medalist, Eischens is ranked nationally by several outlets, including ThOpenMat (No. 5) and FloWrestling (No. 12). He is the No. 80 overall 2018 prospect according to InterMat and No. 83 overall on FloWrestling.

Escudero is a local product out of Los Gatos High School in Los Gatos, California. He is a California state qualifier and a Central Coast Section champion. Additionally, he is a Doc Buchanan Medalist and a Fargo Cadet Greco All-American. He is projected to be a 165-pounder for the Caridnal.
 
Griffith comes to The Farm as a two-time New Jersey state champion and a three-time finalist from Bergen Catholic High School. A native of Westwood, New Jersey, he is a Super 32 national champion and a Beast of the East finalist and three-time medalist. Griffith was a Fargo Cadet Freestyle national finalist and ranked No. 3 in the nation by InterMat and FloWrestling. He is the No. 19 overall 2018 prospect on InterMat and No. 41 overall with FloWrestling. He is projected to wrestle at 174 pounds for the Cardinal.
 
Harlan is a California state finalist from Oakdale High School. Hailing from Waterford, California, he is a CIF Masters champion and a FloNationals All-American. A Powerade Tournament medalist, he is currently ranked No. 13 in the nation by InterMat. Harlan will likely wrestle at 184 pounds for Stanford.
 
A native of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Woods attends Montini Catholic High School in Illinois. A two-time Illinois state champion and three-time state finalist, he is a two-time preseason national champion and four-time All-American. He is also an Ironman champion and three-time medalist, a two-time Cheesehead Tournament champion and was named the Outstanding Wrestler after winning the Al Dvorak Tournament. Rated No. 3 in his weight by InterMat and FloWrestling, he is listed as the No. 25 overall 2018 prospect by FloWrestling and No. 29 by InterMat. He will likely compete at 141 pounds for the Cardinal.
