STANFORD, Calif. (AP) – Junior Reid Travis posted his third 20-point game in as many contests and freshman Oscar Da Silva recorded his first career double-double, but the Cardinal came up short in a 67-61 setback to Eastern Washington Tuesday night at Maples Pavilion.
 
Stanford (2-1) feverishly tried to erase a double-digit deficit late in the game, as Robert Cartwright connected on a three-pointer and layup in back-to-back possessions to cut it four points with 37 seconds remaining.
 
Eastern Washington's Bogdan Bliznyuk converted all four of his free throw attempts in the final 10 seconds to seal the victory for the Eagles (2-1).

Bliznyuk scored a game-high 23 points to help EWU, which hit 11 three-pointers in the contest.
 

 
Stanford, playing without starters Dorian Pickens and Marcus Sheffield, had an off night from three-point range, finishing 2-for-16 from beyond the arc.
 
Da Silva, who made his first career start, was one of three freshmen to in the starting lineup for the Cardinal, joining guards Daejon Davis and Isaac White. Da Silva finished with 12 points and a game-high 17 rebounds in 38 minutes of action.  
 

Humphrey collected his second double-digit rebounding game of the season with 11 boards. Cartwright contributed 12 points for the Cardinal.
 
Eastern Washington was down 9-2 early but never trailed over the game's final 29 minutes, despite missing six free throws down the stretch. The Eagles went on a 20-6 run in the first half to take the advantage and led by six (33-27) at the half. 
 
Stanford continues its busy season-opening stretch with its fourth game in eight days, hosting Northeastern at 3 p.m. PT at Maples Pavilion.
