INDIAN WELLS, Calif. - Sophomore Emily Arbuthnott and freshman Michaela Gordon will play for a doubles title on Sunday morning at the Oracle ITA National Fall Championships.
After winning their first three matches on the strength of a super-tiebreaker, Arbuthnott and Gordon defeated Duke's Kelly Chen and Samantha Harris 6-1, 7-5 in the semifinals.
Arbuthnott and Gordon, who are unranked and playing together for the first time, next face the nation's No. 6-ranked duo of Alexa Bortles and Arianne Hartono from Mississippi in Sunday's final at 10 a.m. PT.
Arbuthnott and Gordon have compiled a 6-1 record this season and also reached the doubles semifinals of the ITA Northwest Regional Championships last month.
