Cardinal Rolls Bears

Plummer posts match-high 16 kills

BERKELEY, Calif. – Led offensively by Kathryn Plummer, the No. 4 Stanford women's volleyball team closed out the regular season with a sweep over rival California, Saturday, at Haas Pavilion.
 
Stanford (26-3), which clinched its 17th Pac-12 title last week, finished conference play at 19-1. Cal completes its season at 13-18 overall and 4-16 in the Pac-12.
 
Plummer tallied a match-high 16 kills on .371 hitting to go with six digs and four blocks to lead the Cardinal. Freshman Meghan McClure added nine kills on a .400 attack percentage and five digs.
 


Sophomore setter Jenna Gray controlled the offense with 40 assists as the Cardinal hit .373 as a team. Sophomore libero Morgan Hentz collected a team-high 12 digs and freshman defensive specialist Kate Formico registered eight digs.
 
Junior middle blocker Tami Alade racked-up nine blocks in the sweep, while recording seven kills on .417 hitting. Redshirt senior Merete Lutz chipped in with eight kills (.471), while Audriana Fitzmorris had six kills and two aces.
 
Stanford is now 73-11 all-time against Cal. The Bears were led by senior Ashten Smith-Gooden, who posted 13 kills, and senior Antzela Dempi, who had 10 kills and four digs.
 
Stanford will find out its postseason fate on Sunday, Nov. 26 as the NCAA Tournament bracket will be revealed on ESPNU at 6 p.m. PT. The Cardinal is one of just two teams in the nation to have appeared in all 36 previous NCAA Tournaments.
