STANFORD, Calif. - Senior defensive tackle Harrison Phillips was named a Lott IMPACT Trophy finalist on Wednesday.
The winner of the 2017 Lott IMPACT Trophy will be announced at The Lott IMPACT Trophy Award Banquet, held at the Pacific Club in Newport Beach on Dec. 10. The award show will be televised live on CBS Sports at 5:30 p.m. PT. The other finalists include Alabama's Minkah Fitzpatrick, Iowa's Josey Jewell, and Virginia's Micah Kiser.
A team captain, Phillips is a double major and set to graduate early in December. The CoSIDA academic all-district honoree is second on the team with 87 tackles this season and has a team-high 16.5 tackles for loss, 7.0 sacks and two fumble recoveries.
"Character is a key component in our award," said Pacific Club IMPACT Foundation Board Chairman John Hamilton. "It is our honor to recognize these players who represent their team, their university and their community with such passion and dedication."

Phillips is a board member of The Playmakers Organization, which is dedicated to mentoring at-risk minority youth. The Omaha, Nebraska, native volunteers at the non-profit organization in Sacramento, and created a Playmakers Hub at Belvedere Elementary School in Omaha, called Harrison's Playmakers. His duties include marketing, planning, fundraising, and hands-on work with students.
Phillips has inspired fellow classmates and teammates to join him in off the field community service. That includes his visits to Stanford University Children's Hospital to volunteer time visiting ill children, reading to children in East Palo Alto, Habitat for Humanity projects and founding the Fellowship of Christian Athletes at Stanford.
The annual The Lott IMPACT Trophy is given to the player who exhibits the same characteristics Ronnie Lott embodied during his distinguished career: integrity, maturity, performance, academics, community and tenacity.
No. 14 Stanford (9-3) won the Pac-12 North for the fourth time in seven years under Shaw, and will take on No. 11 USC (10-2) in the Pac-12 Championship Game on Friday at 5 p.m. PT. ESPN will televise the game.
