Exhibition Win

STANFORD, Calif. – Junior Reid Travis paced Stanford with a game-high 24 points as the Cardinal defeated Chico State, 91-81, in an exhibition Thursday night at Maples Pavilion.
 
Travis was one of four Cardinal in double figures on the night, with Marcus Sheffield adding 15, freshman Isaac White contributed 14 and senior Michael Humphrey finished with 10.
 
The Cardinal scored the first 10 points and led by as many as 12 in the first half, before the Wildcats mounted a late run. Chico State went on an 18-8 run to cut into Stanford's advantage. The two teams went into halftime tied at 35-35.
Stanford scored 28 of the first 41 points of the second half to jump ahead for good. The Cardinal continued to stretch its advantage, leading by as many as 22 with five minutes to play.

 
Chico State was led by sophomore Justin Biggs, who poured in 14 for the Wildcats.

Junior Robert Cartwright added seven points and a game-high six assists for the Cardinal. 

 
The contest served as a final tune-up for Stanford, which will open the season with a five-game homestand next week. The Cardinal hosts Cal Poly on Friday, Nov. 10, at 4 p.m. PT in a men's basketball-football doubleheader.
