Stanford Women's Basketball helped start off a memorable 2017 for the Cardinal when head coach Tara VanDerveer won her 1,000th-career game. She was just the second coach to reach that milestone at the time, joining Tennessee's Pat Summit.
Mar. 26 • Women's Basketball Secures Final Four Trip
The Cardinal mounted a 16-point comeback over Notre Dame in the Elight Eight, securing the program's 16th trip to the Final Four.
Apr. 20 • Akash Mody Named Nissen-Emery Award Winner
Congrats to Akash Modi on winning the Nissen-Emery Award - the most prestigious honor in college gymnastics!

Senior gymnast Akash Modi became the fifth of 19 Cardinal finalists to win the honor since it was established in 1966 and the third winner under head coach Thom Glielmi. Modi went on to conclude his senior season as a national champion, winning individual titles in the all-around and parallel bars competitions.
May 14 • Women's Water Polo Wins Title in Thriller
Senior Maggie Steffens scored the game-winner with nine seconds to play to lift the Cardinal to its sixth NCAA title. The 8-7 win over UCLA helped the Cardinal claim five of the last seven NCAA crowns.
May 18 • First Title in 19 Years
2016 Olympians Katie Ladecky, Simone Manuel, and Lia Neal led Stanford Women's Swimming and Diving to the program's first NCAA Championship since 1998. In addition to the team title, the program brought home 10 individual titles at the NCAA Championships in Indianapolis this past June.
June 3 • Nine's #FinalSeas9n Comes to a Close
The illustrious 41-year career of head coach Mark Marquess came to an end in Regional play at Sunken Diamond this summer. "Nine", as Marquess is known, amassed over 1,600 career wins, owns the most wins in Pac-12 history, was a nine-time Coach of the Year honoree, and made 14 trips to the College World Series in his time on The Farm.
June 4 • Lightweight Rowing Secures Third-straight IRA Championship

In its first year under head coach Kate Bertko, Women's Lightweight Rowing won the IRA National Championship in Gold River, California. It was the program's third straight national title.
June 9 • Fisher's Comeback
Grant Fisher put on a memorable performance this summer, using a late kick to win the 5,000-meter national title at the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Oregon.
September 23 • The Home of Champions
In the fall of 2017, Stanford Athletics unveiled the Home of Champions, a long-awaited space to honor the legacy of the scholar-athletes and coaches who have made Stanford Athletics so successful.
December 3 • Women's Soccer Wins It All
Dominant all season long, Stanford Women's Soccer capped off their season with the perfect ending, a 3-2 thrilling victory over UCLA in Orlando, Florida. The championship was the second for the program, having won the 2011 national title.
December 9 • Back-to-back Trips to the Final Four
Stanford Women's Volleyball followed their 2016 National Championship season with another trip to the Final Four after sweeping Texas in Maples Pavilion in the Regional final. Stanford has appeared in three of the last four Final Fours (2014, 2016, 2017), and owns the most NCAA Tournament wins in history (119).
December 10 • Three-peat Complete
Sam Werner's goal in the second overtime of sudden victory sealed the national title for Stanford Men's Soccer, whose run of three straight championships is the first since Virginia's four straight victories from 1991 to 1994.
December 10 • #115
With Men's Soccer's thrilling victory over Indiana in the College Cup, Stanford had secured its record-115th NCAA team National Championship, the most of any program in history. The Cardinal currently holds 119 team championships in total, as well as 494 total individual NCAA championships and 558 total individual titles in its history.
December 19 • #HeismanLove
Stanford Football's Bryce Love put together a season for the ages, rewriting the national and Stanford record books in the process. Love helped the team earn another Pac-12 North title, won the Doak Walker Award, was a unanimous All-american, and was named a Heisman Trophy finalist.
