STANFORD, Calif. – Sophomore freestyler Grant Shoults was named CollegeSwimming.com's National Swimmer of the Week, as announced by the organization on Tuesday.

Shoults, a native of Laguna Hills, California, dropped top-eight times in the 200, 500 and 1,650-yard freestyles at the Texas Invitational last week, including wins in the 500 and 1,650 frees.

On Day 2 of the meet, Shoults (4:11.34) secured his NCAA "A"-cut with a win in the event, for which he is the school record holder. The Cardinal dominated the 500 free, with Liam Egan (4:14.03) taking second, Johannes Calloni (4:16.60) fifth and True Sweetser (4:16.82) sixth.

Shoults swam another "A"-cut on Day 4 of the meet, winning the 1,650 free with a time of 14:39.59. True Sweetser (14:41.48) followed it up in second, Calloni (14:52.59) was fifth and Egan (14:58.33) placed seventh.

The three-time All-American also added a fourth-place finish in the 200 free, swimming 1:33.51 for the seventh fastest time in the nation. As a freshman, Shoults won the Pac-12 500 free before earning first-team All-America honors with fourth place at NCAA's. Shoults was also a first-team All-American in the 800-yard freestyle relay and the 1,650 free.

Stanford's fall season concluded last week at the Texas Invitational. The Cardinal resumes action on Jan. 12 when it hosts Pacific in a nonconference dual meet at Avery Aquatics Center.
