STANFORD, Calif. – Stanford gymnast Akash Modi was named the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Gymnast of the Week, as announced by the conference Tuesday.
On the weekend, Modi returned to collegiate action after his third place finish at the American Cup, adding his fourth all-around title of the year in a tri-meet against No. 11 Michigan and No. 3 Illinois and his fourth on parallel bars as well as his third title in pommel horse on the year.
He also placed second on high bar with a 14.550, third on floor with a 13.900, third on rings with a 14.750 and fourth on vault with a 14.650.
This is Modi's fourth MPSF weekly award this year, and 14th of his career.
Modi has earned 13 individual event victories against NCAA teams this season: all-around (4), parallel bars (3), pommel horse (3), floor (2) and high bar (1).
The Cardinal will take a brief hiatus from competition as it focuses on the postseason and its final home meet on April 1 against Cal. Meet time is set for 4 p.m. at Burnham Pavilion.
