STANFORD, Calif. – Stanford and Tennessee will meet for the 30th consecutive season when the Cardinal hosts the Lady Volunteers on Thursday, Dec. 21. Stanford has won five straight at home against Tennessee.
The two titans of women's college basketball have played 34 total games and at least once every year since 1988. Five of Stanford's 10 wins in the series have come in Maples Pavilion over the past decade. The Cardinal, which has won five straight against Tennessee on The Farm, hasn't lost at home to the Lady Volunteers since Dec. 4, 2005.
The home team is 10-1 in the last 11 games between the two schools, the only blemish being Stanford's 73-60 victory in Knoxville on Dec. 22, 2012. Tennessee overcame an early 11-point deficit to win 59-51 in Thompson-Boling Arena last December.
Three dates are now set for the Cardinal's 2017-18 nonconference schedule. Stanford opens the season at Ohio State on Friday, Nov. 10 and plays Louisville in Columbus on Sunday, Nov. 12. The Buckeyes and Cardinals advanced to the Sweet 16 last season. Louisville knocked out Tennessee in the tournament's second round.
Stanford is coming off a 32-6 season that included its 13th Final Four appearance and 12th Pac-12 Tournament championship.
Season ticket members will be able to renew their seats beginning on Monday, June 5.
