STANFORD, Calif. – Freshman Oscar da Silva was a standout for Germany in the FIBA Under 19 World Cup, held in Cairo, Egypt, during the first week of July.
da silva, a native of Munich, averaged 10.3 points, 4.0 rebounds, 1.7 steals and 1.4 blocks in 25.7 minutes per game during Germany's seven games in the FIBA U19 World Cup. He ranked second on the team in scoring and third in rebounding.

In Germany's final game of the tournament, an 80-74 win over Lithuania, da silva posted a team-best 18 points, four rebounds, four steals and a block, while shooting 58.3 percent (7-of-12) from the field in 30 minutes of action on Sunday.
da silva, who started all seven games, recorded double figures in the scoring column in four of Germany's contests, finishing with 14 against Puerto Rico, 12 against New Zealand and 10 against the United States along with his 18-point performance against Lithuania.
He guided Germany to a 5-2 record and a fifth-place finish in the 16-team tournament held at Cairo Stadium July 1-9. Canada claimed the title with a 79-60 victory over Italy in Sunday's championship game.
The 6-9 forward is part of a four-member freshman class that includes guards Daejon Davis and Isaac White, and forward Kezie Okpala. da silva, who is already enrolled in classes, will arrive on campus later this week.
