1985 - The Cardinal offense moved the ball well but could only produce one touchdown on the night, while the defense couldn't stop the San Diego State attack. The Aztecs reached the Cardinal end zone on five of their first six possessions en route to a 41-22 win.
 
1986 - The Cardinal recorded its first win against the San Diego State Aztecs with a 17-10 victory at home.
 
1987- Despite the absence of 1986 Pac-10 Offensive Player of the Year Brad Muster, the Cardinal offense put up 44 points on the Aztec defense, and Stanford escaped with a 44-40 victory.
