STANFORD, Calif. - Stanford divers totaled four podium finishes at the UCLA Bruin Diving Invitational over the weekend. Senior Kassidy Cook finished second on the 1-meter and freshman Mia Paulsen earned two silvers.
Cook competed for the first time this year and finished as the runner-up on the 1-meter. She finished second in the prelims and maintained that spot with a final score of 584.40. That edged out teammate Haley Farnsworth, who took bronze with a score of 568.35.
On the 3-meter, Paulsen was second overall. She had the top score in the preliminaries at 326.60, and finished as the runner-up with a final tally of 633.55. Farnsworth was fourth with her finish of 605.30. Stanford was the only school with multiple divers to score over 600 in the event.
On the final day of competition, Paulsen found the podium for a second time. She finished third with a score of 525.10.
The Stanford swimming and diving team will have two home dual meets this weekend. The Cardinal hosts Arizona on Friday (2 p.m.) and Arizona State on Saturday (noon). Both meets are free. There will be a Kids Autograph Day after the meet on Saturday. The first 200 kids (18 and under) at the meet (gates open at 11 a.m.) will be invited to the post-meet autograph session with their guardians. Free team posters will be distributed for autographs (athletes will not be able to sign personal items).
