Gymnasts Hit The Road

STANFORD, Calif. – The No. 23 Stanford women's gymnastics team travels to Corvallis on Saturday to oppose No. 18 Oregon State (1-1, 0-1 Pac-12) at Gill Coliseum in meet that will be televised nationally on the Pac-12 Network at 2:30 p.m. PT. Rich Burk and Samantha Peszek will call the action.

The Cardinal (3-5, 0-1 Pac-12) is led by Elizabeth Price, the only senior on the squad. On Tuesday, she was selected Pac-12 Women's Gymnast of the Week for the fifth time in her career.

A biomechanical engineering major from Coopersburg, Pennsylvania, the dynamic Price is ranked No. 1 in the nation on the uneven bars (9.950) and all-around (39.692), is tied for first in floor exercise (9.950), and is third on the vault (9.917).

In last week's Pac-12 opener against Arizona State, she swept every event. Through three meets, Price has won or tied for first place in nine of 12 rotations.

A six-time All-American, Price scored a perfect 10 on the uneven bars in the season-opening NorCal Classic at Stanford. It was the second of her career, the other coming as a freshman in 2015 at Oregon State when she recorded a 10 on vault.

At the recent Elevate the Stage meet in Reno against UCLA, Utah and Washington, Price scored a 9.95 in vault, actually a perfect score given the worth of the vault was 9.95.

"She's a superstar," said Stanford head coach Tabitha Yim.

Stanford's 13-player roster includes six true freshmen and four have been regular contributors. Kyla Bryant averages 9.863 on floor and 39.012 in all-around. Other standouts have been Lauren Navarro, Taylor Lawson and Rachael Flam.

Although Yim is in her first year, she is no stranger to The Farm. As an undergraduate (2005-2008), she was a 14-time All-American and is the most decorated gymnast in program history.
Yim placed in the top 10 at the NCAA Championships in all-around four straight years.

As a senior, she was named Pac-10 and Regional Gymnast of the Year and earned first team All-Academic conference honors, graduating with a degree in biology. Yim served as an assistant coach for the Cardinal from 2010-15, then spent the last two years as head coach at Arizona.
