STANFORD, Calif. - No. 1 Stanford blanked Saint Mary's 7-0 on Friday in its home opener at Taube Family Tennis Stadium.
The Cardinal (2-1), which plays four of its first five matches away from home, has now won 38 of its last 40 contests on The Farm spanning since 2015. The Cardinal has not lost at Taube since March 22, 2016, in a 4-3 setback against Pepperdine.
Stanford needed only 28 minutes to capture the doubles point and take a 1-0 lead.
Caroline Lampl was first off the court in singles, delivering a 6-1, 6-4 victory at the No. 3 position to put Stanford ahead 2-0.
Michaela Gordon's 6-4, 6-0 triumph at the top spot of the lineup brought the Cardinal one step closer to clinching. Gordon trailed 4-1 in the first set before storming back to win 11 consecutive games.
The clincher came from Emily Arbuthnott on court two, in the form of a 6-1, 7-5 victory.
Kimberly Yee completed the shutout with a 0-6, 6-3, 6-4 win at the No. 6 spot.
Stanford returns to action next weekend, visiting TCU on Feb. 16 and Texas on Feb. 17. Both matches will be played in Austin, Texas.
