REDWOOD CITY, Calif. - Stanford sailing won the Bryson Women's in Redwood City over the weekend in the first regatta of the Spring season.
Stanford was dominant on the second day and finished with 124 points. Hawaii was second with 173, and USC finished third with a score of 205.
The Cardinal led the Rainbows by just three after the first day of competition, but in the final five races, Stanford's A and B teams took the top two spots on two occasions and neither finished below fourth. The A Division team consisting of skippers Stephanie Houck and Julia Lambert, and crew Madeline Bubb and Victoria Thompson finished first with just 55 points, and the combination of skipper Christina Sakellaris and crew Meg Gerli was tops in the B Division and third overall with 69 points.
The Cardinal returns to competition with a trio of regattas on Feb. 24-25. Stanford will host the McIntyre Team Race, while some Cardinal will head East to the Charleston Women's in South Carolina and the Mendelblatt Team Race in St. Petersburg, Fla.
