BOSTON - No. 4 Stanford put the finishing touches on a successful campaign, outlasting No. 7 Penn 5-4 in the consolation final at the CSA National Championships.
Stanford (16-4) relied on its lower-lineup depth to take down Penn, defeating the Quakers for the second time this season. The Cardinal notched victories at the Nos. 5-9 spots.
Earning its highest ranking in school history, Stanford won six of its final seven matches down the stretch. The Cardinal was undefeated in seven home matches and also finished 7-4 overall against top-10 opponents, including a 6-3 win at Yale during the regular season. Meanwhile, two of its four losses came against eventual national champion Harvard.
The 2018 campaign marks the final season for seniors Sarah Bell, Tatyanna Dadabbo and Christie Huchro.
