LA JOLLA, Calif. – Behind a career high 18 kills from sophomore Eric Beatty, Stanford halted a four-match losing skid with a 25-21, 20-25, 25-20, 25-21 win at UC San Diego, Saturday, at RIMAC Arena.

Stanford hit a season-best .339, while UC San Diego (7-3) posted a .279 clip. The Cardinal held a slight edge in blocks (3.0-1.0) and aces (5-4).
 
Beatty hit .364 with 18 kills on 33 swings and six errors and had seven digs to pace the Cardinal (2-8) in its second win of the season. Freshman opposite Jaylen Jasper chipped in with 14 kills, four digs and two blocks.
 

 
Junior setter Russell Dervay had a career-high 45 assists and eight digs. Senior Jake Stuebner, who started his second straight match at libero, had four digs.
 
Fifth-year senior Kevin Rakestraw registered 10 kills on .381 hitting, while freshman middle blocker Kyler Presho tallied seven kills and two blocks. Starting outside hitter Evan Enriques finished with four kills, eight digs and two solo blocks.
 


Stanford limited itself to just four hitting errors in each of the four sets, posting a match-best .480 clip in the third set.
 
The Tritons were led by opposite Tanner Syftestad, who recorded his 1,000th career kill on Saturday and finished with a team-high 17. Wyatt Harrison added 12 kills on .588 hitting for UCSD.
 
Up next, Stanford opens MPSF play on Thursday at No. 13 USC in Los Angeles. First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Pac-12 Networks.
