STANFORD, Calif. - No. 2 Stanford returns home for its second home meet of the season as it hosts the second-annual Pac-12 Invitational featuring No. 12 California, No. 13 Arizona State and No. 15 Washington this Saturday at 4 p.m. PT in Burnham Pavilion.
LAST TIME OUT:
Stanford added another huge win topping the then-No. 2 Nebraska Cornhuskers, though the Cardinal fell to the three-time defending NCAA Champions, No. 1 Oklahoma. Stanford posted its second-best team score of the year with a 410.500. Robert Neff added another high bar title to his name for his third on the year, posting an NCAA-best 14.550 in the event.
Several Cardinal also set several season-bests:
- Andrew Bitner set career-bests in still rings (13.750) and parallel bars (13.850)
- In addition to his season-best in high bar, Robert Neff set season-bests on pommel horse (13.900), vault (14.450) and the all-around (83.450)
- Bryan Perla set a career-best on vault (14.500)
- Ryan Sheppard continued his stellar return to action with season-bests on pommel horse (13.550) and vault (14.200)
- Blake Sun added career-bests in pommel horse (13.300) and parallel bars (14.300 - also the best score a Cardinal has posted this season on the event)
- Gareth Weiss posted a career-best on rings (13.650) and on vault (14.500)
As a team, Stanford added season-bests in pommel horse (66.850), vault (71.700) and tied for its best on high bar (67.900).
Sweep Life:
The Cardinal stepped up to not only sweep all three of its tri-meets to open the season, it also swept MPSF and CGA National Gymnast of the Week honors the first two weeks - first by Robert Neff in week one and Ryan Sheppard in week two in his first competition since the NCAA Finals in 2016.
