NFL Network Welcomes Shaw

STANFORD, Calif. - For the seventh consecutive year, Bradford M. Freeman Director of Football David Shaw will join NFL Network for its coverage of the NFL Draft. Shaw will be on the main desk as the only college football coach covering the first round of the NFL Draft live in primetime on April 26 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

The coaching resume of Shaw, who is entering his eighth season as Stanford's head coach, includes nine years of NFL experience with the Philadelphia Eagles (1997), Oakland Raiders (1998-2001) and Baltimore Ravens (2002-05).

Under Shaw, the Cardinal has produced 26 draft picks, including six first-round selections, from the 2011 football season onward. Andrew Luck was the first overall pick of the 2012 NFL Draft following the 2011 season. In 2017, Solomon Thomas, selected third overall by the San Francisco 49ers, became the highest defensive draft pick in program history.

Stanford has produced 25 NFL Draft first-round selections and has had 259 players drafted by professional football teams since 1936. The Cardinal has produced a first-round draft pick in each of the past three years. Stanford's 26 drafted players and six first-round selections since the 2012 NFL Draft are the most of any Pac-12 Conference program.

The 2018 campaign will be the eighth for Shaw, who has an overall record of 73-22 with three Pac-12 titles and two wins in the Rose Bowl. Stanford won at least 11 games four times and had at least 10 wins five times under Shaw, while also going to a bowl game every season in which he has been the head coach. Shaw has been named Pac-12 Coach of the Year four times and AFCA Regional Coach of the Year three times.
