Fencers Strike Gold

PASADENA, Calif. – Stanford fencers collected three firsts, two seconds and four third-place finishes on Saturday at the NCAA West Regional Individual Championships at Caltech.
 
Competing against Caltech, the Air Force Academy, the University of Incarnate Word and UC San Diego, junior Carly Weber-Levine and freshman Madeline Liao captured sabre and foil titles, respectively. Sophomore Rose Adams placed third in sabre and sophomore Amanda Han took third in epee.
 
On the men's side, junior Royce Wang claimed the sabre crown, while sophomore Robin Cheong and freshman Lucas Orts earned runner-up showings in epee and foil, respectively. Junior Sean Strong (epee) and sophomore Mitchell So (sabre) finished third.
 
Stanford concludes the season at the NCAA Championships, March 22-25 at Penn State in Happy Valley, Pennsylvania. All qualifiers will be announced Tuesday.
