Two Tabbed for Palmer Cup

STANFORD, Calif. - Andrea Lee and Albane Valenzuela will compete in the Arnold Palmer Cup, as announced recently.

Lee was named to the United States team, while Switzerland's Valenzuela was chosen for the international squad. The international team will be led by Margot and Mitch and Milias Director of Women's Golf Anne Walker.

"The bigger the stage, the better," said Walker. "These young women have great games, and they don't get a chance to showcase it very often. It's one more opportunity to really show what women got."

The annual Ryder Cup-style competition will be played July 6-8 at Evian Resort Golf Club in France. The 2018 Arnold Palmer Cup will be the first using the expanded format of United States men's and women's collegiate golfers versus their counterparts from around the world.

Each team consists of 12 men's golfers and 12 women's golfers. The top six men and top six women on the United States, as well as the international lists, qualified automatically for the squads. The remainder of the two 24-player teams were -- or will be -- filled out as follows: the U.S. had five committee selections, including a non-Division I golfer, and one coach's pick each for the men and women. The international team included four committee selections and a coach's pick each, plus the men's and women's winner of the R&A Foundation Scholars Tournament.
