SAN DIEGO, Calif. – Stanford placed first in the Petite Final of the Jessop-Whittier Cup Invitational, while the second varsity eight placed second in the Open Carley Copley Cup to close out action at the San Diego Crew Classic Sunday morning.
After just missing the cut for the Grand Final, the Cardinal raced in the Petite Final among Gonzaga, Tennessee, Oklahoma, UC Santa Barbara and San Diego. Stanford took the top spot with a time of 7:05.631, outpacing Gonzaga's 7:08.246. Tennessee took third place, clocking a time of 7:09.299 in the race.
The second varsity eight was also in action, registering a 7:06.531 in the Open Carley Copley Cup final. Cal took first place in the race with a time of 6:51.990, while Yale finished third with a time of 7:29.563.
The Cardinal returns home on March 31 for the Class of 2015 Cup against Princeton at Redwood Shores.
