RANCHO SANTA FE, Calif. - Stanford wrapped up the three-day San Diego State March Mayhem on Wednesday with a match-play win over Baylor. Knotted 2.5-2.5, the Cardinal earned the nod with its 8-4 margin of victory serving as the deciding tiebreaker.

The Stanford and Baylor programs are quite familiar with each other, having faced off in the NCAA Championships finale in 2015 when the Cardinal claimed its first national title. This time, the teams squared off in the round-robin bracket at The Farms Golf Club.

Andrea Lee (5&4) and Kelsey Zeng (3&2) earned respective victories over Maria Vesga and Laila Hrindova. Shannon Aubert and Mika Liu each fell, 2&1, and Ziyi Wang halved her match with Diane Bailieux.

"This was certainly not the performance we hoped for, but how we respond will be the key element to take away," said Anne Walker, Stanford's Margot and Mitch Milias Director of Women's Golf. "We have a young core of players that are learning and growing each week, and this tournament will play an important role in their development. There was a lot of fight today from Emily who came back from 3-down with five to play to half her match. Andrea played great and locked up three wins, and Kelsey Zeng showed she can compete at this level with two wins and a very close call. We are looking forward to testing ourselves again next week in Napa."

In Stanford's first two matches, it downed BYU, 3-2, while dropping Tuesday's affair to Pepperdine by the same count.

The Cardinal returns to action April 8-10 at the Silverado Showdown in Napa, California.
