STANFORD, Calif. – Junior Reid Travis is a First Team All-Pac-12 selection for the second consecutive season to highlight a trio of Stanford players on the men's basketball all-conference teams announced Monday.
Senior Dorian Pickens was an honorable mention All-Pac-12 selection and freshman Daejon Davis was one of five members on the Pac-12 All-Freshman Team.
Travis, a third-year captain, is the first repeat First Team All-Pac-12 selection since Chasson Randle (2014 and 2015). The junior forward is one of only two players in the Pac-12 (Arizona's DeAndre Ayton is the other) to rank in the top-four in the conference in scoring and rebounding. Travis completed the regular season third in the Pac-12 in scoring (19.6 ppg) and fourth in rebounding (8.2 rpg). He ranks in the top-five in the Pac-12 in 11 categories overall, including free throw attempts (first, 222), field goal attempts (first, 418), total points (second, 607), free throws made (second, 150), total field goals made (second, 220), scoring (third, 19.6), double-doubles (third, 11), offensive rebounds per game (third, 2.8), rebounding (fourth, 8.2), total rebounds (fourth, 254) and field goal percentage (fifth, .526).
The forward has five double-doubles in his last seven games, coming off a 24-point, 14-rebound performance in the win at Arizona State on Saturday. He is averaging 22.6 points and 10. 8 rebounds in the last five games, leading Stanford to a 4-1 record in that span.
Travis scored a career-high 33 points to go along nine rebounds in the victory over Washington, earning Pac-12 Player of the Week honors in February.
Pickens, a first-year captain, is recognized with his first conference honor after finishing eighth in the Pac-12 standings in scoring at 15.9 ppg during conference action. He is the conference's top three-point shooter, leading the league at 3.1 three-point field goals per game (56) during conference play. The senior forward finished sixth in the conference in three-point field goal percentage (.455) in league action. Pickens missed 11 games during the nonconference season with a foot injury and was not included among in the Pac-12's overall statistical leaders as he has not met the conference's requirement of playing in 75 percent of his team's overall games. Had he been included in the Pac-12's overall statistics, the Cardinal would lead the conference in three-point field goals made per game (2.9), rank fifth in three-point field goal percentage (.426) and rank 13th in overall scoring (15.4 ppg). Pickens' 54 three-pointers in his last 17 games is the ninth-most among players from major conferences during that span.
Davis is the first Cardinal to make the Pac-12 All-Freshman Team in six seasons, when Chasson Randle was selected to the squad in 2012. He has started all 29 games he has played in, averaging 10.6 points and 5.0 assists per game. The freshman point guard is fourth in the conference in assists in both overall games (5.0) and conference games (5.5). His 144 assists are six shy of Brevin Knight's Stanford assist record by a freshman. The guard also finished sixth in the Pac-12 in steals per game (1.5 spg) during conference play. He earned Pac-12 Player of the Week honors in January after posting a double-double at Washington to lead the Cardinal to a sweep of the Washington schools. Davis also lifted the Cardinal to victory over USC at home, connecting on a 50-foot heave at the buzzer for the win.
Stanford finished tied for third in the Pac-12 Conference standings, its highest finish in the conference in 10 seasons. The 11 conference wins are also the Cardinal's most since 2007-08 (13-5). Stanford will be the No. 5 seed in this week's Pac-12 Tournament and face No. 12 seed California Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. PT at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
