Finishing Kick

SAN JOSE del CABO, Mexico – Junior Isaiah Salinda collected his third eagle in the last two events and forged an even-par 71 on Tuesday to help Stanford finish 11th at the Querencia Cabo Collegiate at Querencia Golf Club.
 
The Cardinal combined for a 5-over score of 289 – its best total of the week – to complete the 54-hole, 15-team tournament at 22-over 874. Top-ranked Oklahoma State successfully defended its title by posting a 14-under score of 838, eight strokes ahead of second-place Cal.
 
Salinda eagled the par-5 15th hole and toured the back nine in 3-under 32. He tied for 29th at 4-over 217.
 
Senior Franklin Huang closed with a 72 and tied for 36th at 6-over 219.
 
Sophomore Henry Shimp (75) earned a share of 42nd place at 8-over 221, followed by junior Brandon Wu, who matched Salinda with a 71 and finished 59th at 12-over 225. Freshman Ashwin Arasu (79) came in 67th at 16-over 229.
 
Collin Morikawa of Cal fired a 64 to claim the individual crown at 16-under 197.
 
Stanford returns to action March 29-31 when it hosts The Goodwin at Harding Park Golf Course in San Francisco.
