STANFORD, Calif. – Erica Slavin continues to shine in and out of the pool.
A two-time Collegiate All-American on the synchronized swimming team, Slavin is among three seniors to receive the Terman Award, presented for academic achievement by the School of Engineering. Dr. Terman was a distinguished Dean of Stanford's School of Engineering, Provost of the University, and a Professor and Chairman of the Department of Electrical Engineering.
Slavin, a native of Calgary, Alberta, Western Canada, maintains a 4.026 GPA in architectural design and will graduate in June. The other senior honorees in civil engineering are Evelyn Li and Brandon Whiteley.
A team captain, Slavin helped the Cardinal capture the 2016 National Collegiate Championships. Stanford finished second in 2015 and 2017. She is also a member of the Canadian National Team.
Slavin has contributed to four winning routines at the Collegiate National Championships, combining with Clare McGovern and Sandra Ortellado to claim the trio crown in 2017. She also swam on the first place duet, trio and team routines in 2016.
At last year's Collegiate National Championships in Columbus, Ohio, Slavin was honored for academic achievement. In 2016, she received the Block "S" Outstanding Female Sophomore Award at the year-end Stanford Athletic Board Luncheon.
The Cardinal will host the Western Regionals on Saturday against Arizona and Northern Arizona at the Avery Aquatic Center. Technical competition begins at 12:30 p.m., followed by routines at 2:45 p.m.
The Collegiate National Championships are March 28-31 in Oro Valley, Arizona.
