Downed by Tigers

STANFORD, Calif. – Junior Carolyn Lee had eight strikeouts and allowed just two earned runs in six innings, but Stanford mustered just one hit and fell to Pacific, 6-0, on Wednesday night at Smith Family Stadium.

Pacific took the lead in the first frame. A leadoff walk came around to score on a two-out error. The Tigers then doubled their lead with three hits in the fourth -- a two-out single made it 2-0.

Two innings later, Pacific loaded the bases with two outs and singled home another run for a 3-0 lead.

In the seventh, two errors and a two-out single with the bases loaded helped the visitors add three more for a six-run cushion.

Sophomore Hannah Howell extended her hitting streak to four games with Stanford's lone hit in the fifth.

The Cardinal stranded a runner at second in the second, third and fifth innings, but its best threat was in the fourth. Stanford put runners at second and third with one out when Victoria Molina grounded one to third. Molly Fowkes broke for home and was tagged out. Lauren Wegner walked to load the bases but a fielder's choice ended the inning.

This weekend, Stanford heads to Eugene to take on Oregon for a three-game series beginning on Friday at 6 p.m. PT, continuing Saturday at 5 p.m., and concluding Sunday at noon.
