ST. LOUIS, MO. – Elizabeth Price became the first Stanford student-athlete to capture the coveted AAI Award presented to the most outstanding senior female gymnast in the country, it was announced on Wednesday night.
Often called the "Heisman Trophy" of women's gymnastics, the award is voted on by college coaches and 10 finalists are selected.
A 10-time All-American and two-time Pac-12 Conference Gymnast of the Year, Price received the award at a banquet for those participating in the 2018 NCAA Championships on Friday and Saturday. She will compete in the all-around competition as an individual for the Cardinal.
"What an incredible and well-deserved honor for Elizabeth," head coach Tabitha Yim said. "It's a testament to her hard work as well as the impact she has had on NCAA gymnastics. We are thrilled for her and know this is just the beginning of a very special weekend and celebration of our super senior."
A biomechanical engineering major from Coopersburg, Pennsylvania, Price will graduate in June. In 12 meets this season, she has tallied three perfect 10s while recording 32 first-place finishes and 32 scores of 9.900 or higher.
Making her fourth consecutive appearance in the NCAA Championships, Price starts the competition on vault on Friday night at 4 p.m. PT. The meet will be televised on ESPNU, and live scoring is available at GoStanford.com.
