A four-time All-American, Williams competed in his first multi since before he took a redshirt season last year, and placed fourth Thursday after the 10-event competition. Williams was the third collegian in the field, with Olympian Zach Ziemek winning with 8,181.
Williams crept as high as second after winning the pole vault at 17-0 ¾ (5.30 meters) in the eighth event.
