STANFORD, Calif. - Senior Kelsey Murray was named the Pac-12 Lacrosse Scholar Athlete of the Year by the conference office on Tuesday.

A 2018 team captain, Murray is Stanford's all-time career leader in goals, assists and points. She also holds school records for goals and points in a game.

A two-time first-team all-conference and all-region selection, Murray has been named to the conference All-Academic team in each of the last two years. She graduated with an undergraduate degree in psychology and a 3.87 GPA, and has maintained a 4.03 GPA pursuing a master's degree in communication. 

A native of Wilmette, Illinois, native, Murray earned second-team All-America honors in 2016, and in 2017, she set school single-season records in points (87) and goals (57), and finished with the second-most assists (30) in Stanford history. This season, she was named to the Tewaaraton Award watch list and a preseason All-American, and currently leads the Pac-12 in several offensive categories. She has played in 78 career games in Cardinal -- most in school history. 

Armed with two degrees from Stanford, Murray is set to begin working at the Boston Consulting Group in San Francisco later this summer.

This is the first-ever Pac-12 Women's Lacrosse Scholar of the Year award, as the sport is in its inaugural season with the conferenc.e The award, which is presented in each of the 24 sports the Pac-12 sponsors, was established to honor collegiate student-athletes that are standouts both academically and in their sports discipline. In order to be eligible for the Pac-12 Scholar-Athlete of the Year award, student-athletes must be a senior (in athletics eligibility) on track to receive a degree, have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher, participate in at least 50 percent of the scheduled contests in the sport and have a minimum one year in residence at the institution. 

Murray and the 13th-ranked Cardinal head to Boulder, Colorado, this weekend for the inaugural Pac-12 Tournament. Stanford earned the No. 2 seed and a bye in the first round and will take on the winner of third-seeded USC and sixth-seeded Arizona State on Friday at 3 p.m. PT.
